This is a beautiful Maiko's hikizuri; you already know these are rare as heck and are usually super expensive, so you're seeing this price and asking what's wrong. OH BOY. She's absolutely as beautiful as she looks, don't worry. However, she has had a really hard life. This hikizuri started life probably right before the whole shutdown with the war; we have really quality silk with good BUT SIMPLE paint work even if we have a lot of it. Gorgeous deep purple on this baby; lots of kinsai loss due to probably a dozen or more professional cleanings and repairings. It has A LOT of repair work. A LOT. Tons of abrasions; tons of places where the silk has rubbed thin or just left the building, but everything has been professionally repaired and reinforced. The kimono is overall pretty clean; there's one pretty ugly smudge on one sleeve. There are a good amount of migrations on this piece, but it's not bad. This piece worked for a lot of years, which I always find really interesting how much Okiyas pushed their kimono in the face of struggling finances. You'll notice that panels have been taken out of the hakkake to make more patches for the kimono. The thing about these replaced panels? They're relatively NEW. Like 90s-00s new. It's crazy. This is a pre-war kimono! But someone was using it PRETTY recently still; and I don't think it was henshin. Like I said, the piece is pretty clean and it's been maintained and pieces that get ran through henshin studios generally get ran until they're disgusting. This is not that piece. She's just tired and worn; which girl, me too. Lining is also pretty darned clean and nice. . .! I'm selling this at the price I feel she's worth which is a good bit less than I recently paid for this piece because the seller used really bad photos and said 'some repairs' and not like a lot of repairs. Also, I do like researching these pieces, so I feel like I paid to look this piece over, research her construction and all the fun, neat interesting things about her, and now she gets to head onto someone else to actually enjoy. Given her long history, if you're looking for a piece you're probably going to find a Maiko wearing said piece in photos, this IS probably going to be it. Heck, you'll probably find her popping up in multiple decades. I would strongly suggest this piece be enjoyed as a display piece given her condition. I wouldn't recommend this piece for dressing whether on a person or a mannequin. This piece isn't falling apart because of how much it's been maintained, but it's also not in great condition and should be treated with care; and dressing these pieces really do wear them out; as clearly as this piece has been worn probably hundreds of times.
