RARE Mappin & Webb Antique British DECANTER CLARET STERLING SILVER CRYSTAL GLASS

Description: Dear Silver Collectors!For your consideration is an impressive Antique MAPPIN & WEBB - Fantastic LARGE DECANTER - Victorian English, 1879, STERLING SILVER & CRYSTAL GLASS!It's handcrafted sterling silver and crystal glass***EXCELLENT condition, RARE makers (see similar clarets auctions by Sotheby's and Christie's below)! Fantastic quality! For your consideration is a Victorian Silver Claret Jug/Decanter London 1879. Massive, full-sized claret with 3-dimensional decoration of Greek masks and large Standing lion with shield and Coat of Arms/motto. Also clear central dedication and British marks on the base, central, and upper part. Stunning quality! Inscribed on the thin band that stabilizes the bottom of the handle are two inscriptions -- the first I believe says "From Colonel E G Steiner to G H Pember 50th". The second says "In memory of the 12 and 13th of May 1882." These inscriptions are placed so that they are not easily seen and not easy to read. But clearly the jug was produced in 1879 and inscribed and presented 3 years later. Weight: hefty 1700 GRAMS or about 70 Oz!! Dimensions: large - 12 1/5" tall, about 6 1/2" wide!!Condition: Very good to Excellent! No issues, no defects! Some light scratches on silver, NO removals, marks are clear.
