Mark Antony and Lepidus were both involved in the history of Transalpine Gaul during the Second Triumvirate, when they ruled the Roman Empire alongside Octavian (later known as Augustus): In 44 BC, Antony illegally assigned himself the provinces of Cisalpine and Transalpine Gaul, displacing the existing governors. In 43 BC, he was given the balance of Gaul, while Lepidus was given Narbonese Gaul, Hispania, and Africa. Lepidus was sent to negotiate with Antony after Antony attempted to take control of Cisalpine Gaul by force. Lepidus negotiated an agreement with Antony, but it's unclear if he was forced to do so or if he was always planning to. Transalpine Gaul, or "Gaul across the Alps", was conquered by the Romans in 121 BC to improve communications with the Iberian peninsula. It later became known as Gallia Narbonensis, after its capital city, Narbo. All of my items have been purchased through reputable auction houses from all over the globe. Some authenticated, some not.
