Description: RARE MIS-STAMP Authentic WWII Japanese Army Type 95 NCO Katana Samurai SwordThis Type 95 "shin guntō" NCO sword features a metal hilt meaning it was produced between 1935 and 1945. According to original production dates, the serial numbers indicate it was likely manufactured November or December of 1942.The blade's serial number: 36534The scabbard's serial number: 139624 OR 139642The serial numbers DO NOT MATCH, however, the scabbard features a RARE DEFECT where the last two digits of the serial number have been stamped twice over, reading either "24" or "42".The hilt of the sword shows three stamps, reading from right to left: The mark of the Kokura arsenal (resembling four cannon balls).Nagoya Inspector's Stamp. And a RARE unknown marking. The blade itself also features a Japanese symbol that I was unable to identify. It uses a locking spring tap to secure the sword to the scabbard. The blade is 26.25 inches long and overall length is 36.25 inches. The sword and scabbard are worn and scratched from use, tarnished but still in good condition. No signs of loose parts. This is an authentic historical item. It was gifted to me by a man who fought for the US in WWII and claims to have taken this off a fallen Japanese officer himself.Given its history, and rare markings and defects, this is an exceptional item to add to your collection or purchase for resale.I will ensure it is packaged with great care upon shipping. If you are serious about buying feel free to make an offer! I will happily provide more pictures upon request.
