Description: Up for auction is a Rare, LARGE and Wonderful 9 Tube/Tubular Grandfather/Hall Clock. The identical clock (missing top finial), different mechanism, sold at auction few years back for $32,500 + 21% buyer's fee. Circa-1880 The clock's dimensions are approximately; H- 107", W- 30" & D- 20". The Case: The mahogany case is in excellent physical condition. The original finish is extremely clean and looks fantastic for a clock that is almost 125-130 years old. There are a couple of small pieces of molding missing. I did not notice it until I got the clock home. I consider this minor but something you should know about. The Dial/Face: The dial is in fine physical condition and has a wonderful patina. The lunar calendar is beautifully painted with no chips or missing paint that I can see. The hour, minute and second hand are original and fit tightly to the arbors. The dial has Bawo and Dotter on it. The Mechanism: The 8 day weight driven 1/4 hour chiming mechanism has been running flawlessly. I believe the mechanism is made by a German manufacturer. It has a strong ticking sound and keeps very accurate time. The clock chimes, Westminster, and 8 Bells chimes beautifully. The sound of the 1/4 hour chime and hourly strike are wonderful. The sound resonates for a nice long time. The Pendulum: The pendulum is complete and looks great. The Weights: The 3 brass weights are original and have a wonderful patina and look fantastic. I can not see any dents, breaks, chips, etc... The Tubes: The tubes are original, are in excellent physical condition, and have a great patina. The Glass: The glass is original and look great. Antique collectors and/or clock enthusiasts will love this original condition clock that is in great working order. This clock is extremely clean and looks much better in person than the photos.
