Description: RARE PAIR OF EARLY 1870'S F.A.O. & G.A. SCHWARZ TRADE CARD CHRISTMAS INVITATION Gustav A. Schwarz and Frederick August Otto Schwarz were brothers. These are visually two of the most incredible trade cards I have ever seen! The detail in the images is incredible - includes Santa Claus in the top left corner emptying a sack of toys, children, a Christmas tree and a lot of toys. The lithographers listed on the G.A. card - "Mayer, Merkel & Ottmann" only went by that trade name from 1874-1885. The reverse is an invitation to see the Christmas selection at the stores. 765 Broadway was the first NY location for FAO Schwarz and according to Wikipedia they opened there in 1870 and moved in 1880 - overlaying those 2 facts dates these cards between 1874 and 1879 and makes them VERY early cards for the stores. I believe these to be very rare cards. Bid with confidence with an ebay seller for over 25 years with almost 3000 100% positive feedbacks.
