Description: Presented is an antique set of 8 American coin silver forks made during the 1840s and retailed by William Wise & Sons of Brooklyn. According to McGrew’s Manufacturers’ Marks on American Coin Silver, the maker’s mark is attributed to either Gilbert Cunningham & Company or Francis W. Cooper, both of New York City. This set is in a classical Fiddle Thread pattern. Each handle has an engraved monogram of the initials GAF. The back of each fork is marked W. Wise; some are marked Brooklyn for the retailer and some have the maker’s pseudo hallmarks. This set is guaranteed to be coin silver .900 purity. This set is in excellent overall condition. There are no dents, no breaks, no splits, no monogram removals and no repairs. Each fork measures 7 1/2 inches long and the combined weight of the set is 421 grams or 14.8 ounces.
