Maurice Sendak was the first artist chosen to illustrate the cover. The poster run for this art was limited to 300 pieces. This version of the poster is from Sendak's personal collection and is one of the few copies he received for his own use from the print run. The art from the poster also ran as the magazine cover, 1985. The poster is a 1st edition, printed on matte paper, and measures 24" x 16.25", and is unframed.The poster will be rolled and packed for shipping. Maurice Sendak (1928-2012) was an American illustrator and writer of children's books. He became widely known for his book Where the Wild Things Are, first published in 1963. Besides Where the Wild Things Are, Sendak also wrote works such as In the Night Kitchen, Outside Over There, and illustrated many works by other authors including the Little Bear books by Else Holmelund Minarik.
