Description: For Sale - a Rare unsmoked billiard shaped Thompson African Meerschaum Pipe. African Meerschaum, while more durable than meerschaum from Turkey, does not color like the meerschaum from Turkey. Thus, the pre-color is added to the pipe during production. Though African Meerschaum pipes may not color like a meerschaum pipe from Turkey, they're still great smoking pipes. African Meerschaum is/was also less abundant than meerschaum from Turkey, so there are/were fewer African Meerschaum pipes on the market. Making them sought after by many collectors. As African Meerschaum pipes are few and far between on the secondary market, it's even more rare to find one unsmoked. The African meerschaum mines closed in the mid-late 90s, and the last of the African Meerschaum pipes were made around 2002. As best I can gather, this pipe was made by Laxey Pipes Ltd. on the Isle of Man (Great Britian). This pipe is in great condition and is clean and ready to smoke. It features some slight rustication to the bottom of the pipe as well as some around the rim. This pipe does not have a case.
