RARE! Vintage-La Royale- Ancient Civilization Revival-Double Head Bird Necklace

Please come back often, as we are always buying more goodies to list on ebay. This listing is for a gorgeous, vintage, Ancient Civilization Revival necklace by La Royale. This is a super rare item! La Royale jewelry is rare and sought after by collectors, so this is a unique opportunity. This necklace features a double headed bird motif. I think it's an eagle but it could be a vulture. The double headed bird motif is one used in several ancient civilizations. Initially, I thought this might be a Byzantium inspired piece, but the little figurines on the chain look more Minoan to me, or maybe Mycenae.I was going to describe this as inspired by Ancient Middleeastern civilization, but the inclusion of the sun motif in this necklace then had me considering that it might be Mayan or Aztec inspired. Those civilizations were on in Central and South America, so I'm not sure what civilization is depicted here, other than ancient. It is a super cool necklace! There are no stones. The entire necklace is gold plated with a polished gold finish. Jewelry inspired by ancient cultures was a big thing in the fashion world during the 1960s and early to mid 1970s. If you've looked at my other listings you will find several wonderful Egyptian Revival pieces from the same era as this necklace. The necklace is signed La Royale on the back. It's a little hard to measure the exact length because the pendant is wide and the chain is attached on the outer top edges, so the width of the pendant gets incorporated into the length. I'll list the lengths of the chain and the width of the space between where they are attached at the top of the pendant. The chain length is 9.5 inches on each side. The pendant's width is 4.75 inches, but only 3 inches at the center are incorporated in the necklace's length, which makes the necklace fit like a 22 inch necklace. However, the pendant is large, as stated, measuring 4.75 inches across and 3.4 inches in length, so it takes up this amount of space on the chest. The chain is also rather thick which makes it fit a little closer to the neck as well. There are little gold figurines that measure about an inch in length stationed along the length of the chain. The plating is nice and solid with minimal wear. It is finished with a spring ring clasp. This is such an outstanding piece of vintage fashion and a super rare collector's piece. La Royale items of this quality and unique design are frequently priced upwards of $200. This necklace's condition makes it hard to believe this piece of jewelry is at least around 60 years old! Whoever owned it before must have kept it well-protected and worn it no more than a handful of times. I really love this piece, and as I write this, I'm having a difficult time not talking myself into keeping it, so hopefully someone buys it quick before I decide to do just that.
