Description: This is a visually striking and RARE Vintage Old Modern Surrealist Abstract Oil Painting and Mixed Media on Artist Board, by seldomly seen Slovakian Modernist painter, Jana Meliskova Kay (1942 - 1993.) This piece depicts the silhouette of a reclining figure, with its arms behind its head. It is surrounded by bold geometric shapes, and the frenetic clouded darkness of outer space. Throughout this artwork, intricately tied strings, and appliqued butterflies punctuate the image. A hand signed label on the verso reads: "Jana Meliskova. Spring. 1975." Approximately 25 1/2 x 33 1/4 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 20 x 27 3/4 inches. Very good condition for age, with some light scuffing and edge wear to the original vintage period gilded wood frame. Acquired from an affluent estate in Pacific Palisades, California.
