Description: "Sandino Ayer, Sandino Hoy, Sandino Siempre" Sandino yesterday, Sandino today, Sandino always. This t-shirt is an incredibly rare and extraordinary piece of Nicaraguan history, likely from the late 1970s, early 1980s, but perhaps quite a bit older. Likely made on the occasion of the reemergence of the Sandinista National Liberation Front in the late 1970s, and their governmental takeover in 1979. The FSLN flag is proudly displayed underneath Sandino's face, with the above motto. The shirt is a relic at this point, missing about 40% of the original material, but the front graphic is still entirely present. The shirt was probably a size large, but please check the measurements before purchasing. The sleeves are double stitched, and the hem is single stitched. Due to the material lost, and the manner in which it was removed, a sufficiently motivated and skilled person could mend the shirt and replace the back. The shirt is likely from Central America, likely Nicaragua, and as far as I can tell, perhaps unique. I have yet to see the same design reproduced anywhere else, and certainly not on a t-shirt. The design has a certain handmade quality to it, making it all the more fantastic. This shirt is an artifact, and is completely backless. The fabric making up the back of the shirt from the collar down to the hem is completely missing, although the sleeves are still intact, as is the collar. There are multiple small holes, potentially burn marks, scattered across the front of the shirt. The shirt is faded and stained, in many place. See photos for more details. Sold as-is.
