rare WILLIAM EGGLESTON signed poster - Memphis Brooks Museum of Art (1986)

Description: Up for bid is a rare signed poster by the acclaimed American photographer WILLIAM EGGLESTON. Published in 1986 by the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, which has an extensive collection of works by the local artist. It is well documented that MOMA (NYC) has a copy of this floral still-life print in their collection, and that the image was featured in the artist's 1st edition of The Democratic Forest (1989). Because both list the title as Untitled (1983-1986), I am fairly certain the obscure title of this poster Flowers For Rich People comes from an early artist's proof, that is solely owned by MBMOA. Printed on a sheet of woven semi-gloss paper measuring 21.5" x 15.5" (image approx 16" x 10.5"). It is in good used condition, with minor edge wear throughout, with previous moisture damage to the bottom margin as shown. Previously framed, with the back of the sheet showing past evidence of mounting tape as shown. The image itself, including signature are in very good vintage condition. My full opinion on all condition issues of this poster. Yes, my images appear to show it is in pretty rough condition... but I guarantee the poster looks much better in person. The moisture stain definitely appears much lighter in person. Yes, the full sheet would easily improve with a minor (and inexpensive) conservation treatment, but personally, I would just put a mat on this poster/hide the blemishes, and enjoy.
