Description: It is hard to escape the legacy of the Punch Magazine. From 1841 to 2002, the magazine cast a satirical eye on life in Britain. It charted the interests, concerns and frustrations of the country and today it stands as an invaluable resource not just as cartoon art, but as primary source material for historians.Illustration by E. H. Shepard (illustrator of the Pooh books). Page sized 8 x 10 1/2 inches, shown slightly cropped, pulled from the British humor/satire magazine PUNCH, November 26, 1941, not a modern reproduction. THE OLD SLOGAN: “Noch einmal – my patience is exhausted! [Noch einman: “once again”]--Hitler gives fascist salute deep inside a Russian winter snow storm, during the Battle of Moscow/Operation Typhoon. The Battle of Moscow was a military campaign that consisted of two periods of strategically significant fighting on a 600 km (370 mi) sector of the Eastern Front during World War II. It took place between October 1941 and January 1942. The Soviet defensive effort frustrated Hitler's attack on Moscow, the capital and largest city of the Soviet Union. Moscow was one of the primary military and political objectives for Axis forces in their invasion of the Soviet Union. The German strategic offensive, named Operation Typhoon, called for two pincer offensives, one to the north of Moscow against the Kalinin Front by the 3rd and 4th Panzer Armies, simultaneously severing the Moscow–Leningrad railway, and another to the south of Moscow Oblast against the Western Front south of Tula, by the 2nd Panzer Army, while the 4th Army advanced directly towards Moscow from the west. Punch, a magazine of humor and satire, ran from 1841-2002. A very British institution renowned internationally for its wit and irreverence, it helped to coin the term "cartoon" in its modern sense as a humorous illustration.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Questions welcome.
