This is a traditionally brain-tanned and smoked white tail deer hide. It was tanned and smoked using a traditional brain-tanning process using real veal brains. Very few people are making true brain-tanned hides any more. The hide is prepared by a European enthusiast of real leather living in Canada. It is NOT native made. This is a whole hide with some holes, blemishes, and scratches on the leather. Most of these imperfections are near the side of the skin.
