Description: storage M108 M108 receipt issued to D M HAIG Lt RNVR 1916 Auxiliary Patrol armed yacht HMS SAGITTA, 19/10 CM VGC background to SAGITTA Auxiliary Patrol armed yacht HMS SAGITTA, the 1916 was deployed on minesweeping duties in the North Sea 1917 based on Lowestoft, Suffolk from January – March for patrol duties in the North Sea and then, after a refit, proceeded from Home waters to the Arctic (March – May) to serve as the headquarters ship for Captain H A Hurt RN, the Senior Naval Officer, White Sea, and was employed on convoy escort, minesweeping and shipping examination duties until ordered back to the United Kingdom in December; Encountered harsh weather conditions off North Russia, SAGITTA's poor sea-keeping qualities in bad weather ('a prodigy for rolling'), SAGITTA (has been found spelt SARGETTA), hired yacht, Pendant No 01. Built 1908, 744grt/758TM. Armament: 2-12pdr, 1-6pdr AA. In service 5.12.14-15.2.18. May have served as wireless-equipped A/P Group Leader or in special yacht squadrons, at home or in Mediterranean.
