Description: Condition Continued: All the other pages are nicely, tightly bound at their junctures. The covers are tightly bound as well. The inside covers and end papers are blue. There is some browning at the junctures between the inside covers and end papers, more so at the rear one. All the pages in the book are exceptionally clean. Scrolling through, I haven't found any instances of soiling. I'm also not finding any creasing, no placeholder creases, no turned-down corners. There are no markings in the book. There are no attachments of any kind. And Mr. Warburg's signed inscription is the only writing to be found anywhere. There is a fold-out of The Loeb Family Tree and another one of The Warburg Family Tree. Both are in perfect condition, no creases. Beside the aforementioned eight- page (22 black and white pictures) section of photographs there is a ten-page (24 black and white pictures) section of photographs. There are also two pages of photographs near the end of the book, and a frontispiece black and white photograph of the author. All of the photographs are in excellent condition. Designed and printed at The Thistle Press, New York, 1956. Hardcover. Written by Frieda Schiff Warburg. First Edition (NAP, 1956 on the title page). This book was signed and inscribed by the author's son, Frederick M. Warburg to his friend, John J. McCloy, the former Assistant Secretary Of War and US High Commissioner of Postwar Germany. Once listed, it will be the Only signed copy for sale anywhere on the Internet. There are only two unsigned copies for sale. The inscription in this book reads: 'To Jack McCloy, whose wonderful mother's relationship to my mother and grandmother started a family relationship which has mellowed through half a century. Freddy Warburg.' The Metropolitan Museum Of Art has a portrait of a young Frieda Schiff Warburg painted by Anders Zorn. There is a small version of the painting on Ms. Warburg's Wikipedia page. And also read there of her extensive philanthropic work.(Note that I also have a book listed for sale, titled The Oracle, that was written by Frederick Warburg. I purchased both books from the McCloy estate a good number of years ago).
