Description: I have a very large collection of books spanning many topics. A massive gathering of Philip K Dick titles and editions, as well as fine press, signed limited editions, modern firsts, radical movement and conceptual art items. I encourage you to browse my store and categories for a wide range of unique, quality offerings. About: Through photos and text, this book narrates and shows the journalistic and photographic coverage of the July 1967 riot in Detroit. A devastating conflict that lasted nearly a week, seeing death, injury and destruction. This had reached the point of having the Michigan National Guard called in, as well as an Army AND Airborne division.... on top of the police, fire and other first responders. As well as the photographs of the civilians, city, response, destruction and chaos, there is a section at the end of newspaper covers and page photos showing the actual newspaper coverage. Newspaper clippings also throughout, and as I was flipping through this, the photo of John Conyers (captioned as "attempt to disperse crowd") jumped out at me. This was early on after his election to the House... and can say that he certainly hit the ground running! Condition: The exterior is in solid GOOD condition. You can see some overall edge edge-rubbing and the light toning to the covers. Overall, nothing severe, no tears, chips or markings, but it's not vibrantly fresh in appearance. Staple binding is FIRMLY set and stable. Internally, clean and free of markings. This is not as bad as my description may sound, so please SEE IMAGES for a better visual representation. Preserved in an acid-free archival bag. I will happily answer any further questions. Making offers: I certainly can appreciate wanting a better deal, and I've made offers myself on my own purchases. To be up front, if and when you make an offer, I will automatically reject crazy low "give it away" offers. Best not to waste our time. With a more reasonable offer, I will review current pricing for other comparable items out there and either accept, counter or decline submitted offer. If in that review, I find my pricing is already LOW and outdated, I may then increase the price to bring more in line with other offerings. I spend a lot of time sourcing the best offerings, preparing the listings with images and clear descriptions, and price fairly in MOST cases. I remain grateful to all who consider my offerings, and I look forward to serving your needs respectfully and with success.
