Description: Offered here is a set of four (4) reproduction Gilbert Erector set part number 'CT' large flanged wheels. The 'CT' was included in the 1926 and 1927 No. 10 sets; those sets included four (4) pieces. They were used in one model: an Electric Locomotive. Curiously, Gilbert still showed the Locomotive model in the 1928 – 32 manuals even though the CTs were not included in those sets. The CTs were available from the factory according to the separate parts pages from 1928 – 1932; perhaps this was done so a builder could buy the extra parts to build the locomotive. These reproductions were made by casting a silicon mold using an original CT as the pattern. The reproductions were cast using a tin, lead, and antimony mix. Originally, the parts were cast iron. NOTE: The auction photos of various manual pages are not included in this auction. Also, the tray from a 1927 No. 10 set is not included. The auction winner will receive FOUR (4) REPRODUCTION ‘CT’ large flanged wheels. Feel free to ask questions through eBay’s messaging system. Shipping is via USPS priority mail in a small flat rate box for $11.00. If you are interested in learning more about Gilbert Erector sets, Google ACGHS for the home page of the A. C. Gilbert Heritage Society. Included in the photos is a sample page of an Erector parts guide I wrote about 10 years ago; it details the variations of all of the parts used between 1933 – 1962 and is available as a free download from the ACGHS website. Another trivial fact; the ACGHS webmaster is one of A. C. Gilbert’s grandsons! Thanks for looking.
