People are waiting on a wooden bench under the sign. Opened in 1895, the building was the terminus for Thaddeus Lowe's Alpine incline railway up Echo Mountain. The Tavern burned down in 1936 and the site is now the Mt. Lowe Trail Campground. Postmarked 1912; excellent condition.
