PYREX has been produced in 3 Major Categories: CLEAR (1915 -); Flameware (1936-79); Coloured (Clear and Milk Glass) (1947-) ...Offered here is a Nesting Pair of - RETRO-PYREX - Opal-White Milk-Glass, Round, Nesting Mixing-Bowls – Medium 402, Large 403 - with fired-on Forest-Fancies Graphics Pattern - most-excellent barely-gently-used condition. ALL glass surfaces are HIGHLY-GLOSSY, shiny and clean. There are NO obvious chips, cracks, nor flea bites; NO significant scratches nor rubs; No stains, marking, nor hazing. NO fade. There are some fine rubs, scratches, and incidental contact marks - interior and exterior.The base colour of these Mixing-Bowls is pale-tan or light-beige, with chocolate brown colour speckles. The graphics are a chocolate-brown in colour - applied as fully coloured, outlined, or stippled (to give the appearance of colour-variation or shading). These graphics depict stems & leaves, grass, and wild-growing forest-mushrooms on either side of these Mixing-Bowls. The graphics are high-gloss - crisp, clear, and complete - only minimal flecks of colour loss.Medium Size - 402 - 1 1/2 L or 1 1/2 Quarts - The interior has some fine gray utensil-marking mainly on the base; some visible milk-glass swirl lines; a little wear into the glaze; a little heat-hazing. There are some fine gray lines on the exterior sides of the bowl and a small mark of discolouration.This Medium-Size Mixing-Bowl measures - ~7 1/4" in diameter across the top edge; 3 5/8" in height; 3 1/2" diameter across the base seat-rim. This Mixing-Bowl is embossed on the base, square-box format - "402 1.5 l; PYREX "circled R"; FOR OVEN AND; MICROWAVE; NO STOVETOP.; OR BROILER.; CORNING N.Y. U.S.A.; 30".Large Size - 403 - 2.5L or 2 1/2 Quarts - There are some fine gray utensil marks on the exterior base and up the sides; some milk-glass swirling into the glass.This Large Mixing-Bowl measures – ~8 5/8" in diameter across the top edge; 4 – 4 1/8" in height; 4 - 4 1/8" diameter across the base seat-rim.This Large Mixing-Bowl is embossed on its base, in square-box format - "403 2.5 l; PYREX "circled R"; FOR OVEN AND-; MICROWAVE-; NO STOVETOP-; OR BROILER-; CORNING U.S.A.; 22".SOME INTERESTING INFORMATION –PYREX - Forest-Fancies Pattern -The Forest-Fancies Pattern was available 1981-6 - designed by Marc G. Rubin. This pattern is also known as Forest-Mushrooms and Brown-Forest - and replaced the retired Homestead Pattern. Only FOUR opal-PYREX patterns were in production in 1984.This pattern was limited to 300, 400 Series ROUND & 440 Cinderella Nesting Mixing-Bowls and 470 (471-3) & 480 (473-5) Series Round Casserole Dishes - all came with crystal-clear lids.
