Author Biography Somnauth Narine is a Guyanese-born writer who holds a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering and a masters degree in education. He has published an anthology of short stories-The Call of the Ocean and Other Stories, a childrens book-Anansi and the Alligators Diamond, screenplays, and two novels. Four of his screenplays have been converted into independent movies: Brown Sugar Too Bitter for Me (Parts 1 and 2), Forgotten Promise, and Protection Game. His first novel, Rage from the Backwater, has been awarded the Guyana Prize for Literature 2023-Second Prize for Best Book of Fiction.He is a retired New York City Public School teacher and lives in Brooklyn, New York.
