Description: RHODOCHROSITE These RHODOCHROSITE stones are pink to red with banding visible in some stones. There is a bit of matrix on some of the stones. See the pictures for details. They are polished and sorted. As is typical, some stones exhibit some quantity of gray to black but mostly they are pink to red. These stones are wonderful to use in a dish, art project, or as a display for other crystals or items. Rhodochrosite occurs as a hydrothermal vein mineral along with other manganese minerals in low temperature ore deposits as in the silver mines of Romania where it was first found. Banded rhodochrosite is mined in Capillitas, Argentina. It is the national gemstone of Argentina and the state mineral of Colorado. Rhodochrosite is relatively rare and the demand is high, which explains the cost. SIZE: This is an assortment of sizes from small to large. Most are from 3/4 to 1" long and there is a variety of shapes. WEIGHT: Each package contains 1/2 pound of stones. COUNT Unknown.
