His work expresses themes of human psychology with faces focusing on emotion and bodies representing a map of life. Influenced by renowned 20th century artists such as Salvador Dali, Rene Magritte, and Pablo Picasso, Maya’s vivid paintings often feature Cubist and Surrealist themes. Many of his compositions incorporate motifs that are semiotic signs for the artist’s personal lexicon and codes.
