Description: Here is a super-rare vintage 1930s unused bottle of Richard Hudnut Gemey Perfume. No size listed but probably 1 oz. Please review the photos to see that a small amount has evaporated in the nearly 100 years since this beauty was created. This bottle is shaped like a rounded urn with decorative sculptural flourishes on each side. It features a glass stopper and tapers down into a glass footed base. The ground-glass flat-topped stopper has cut beveled edges. The original cloth cord remains partially wrapped around the neck but has partially unraveled. (see pics). The bottle appears to be sealed, but it could be that the stopper has frozen over the decades. The bottle stands about 2-1/2 inches tall with stopper and 2-1/2 inches wide. (See pics with ruler). The silver foil (?) label is intact but shows wear (See pics). This bottle is a collectible work of art - so much so that it is displayed at the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, part of the Hogg Collection of French Perfume Bottles. Richard Hudnut was an American perfumer active from 1880-1955.Gemey was released in 1922 but this bottle dates to the 1930s based on magazine advertisements from that period. The label says "France NY" so it's unclear where it was made and bottled. I have no idea if the perfume inside is intact but its light.amber color suggests it might be. However, I am selling this as a collectible and cannot guarantee that the perfume is still usuable. Happy to post more pics and answer any questions. No box.
