Description: A sweet antique Edwardian solid 9k rose gold lover's knot ring, hallmarks for John Mantle, dating to circa 1905. Knot rings were commitment rings in the Victorian and Edwardian eras and signify everlasting love, 'you are tied to me forever' and also 'to tie the (marriage) knot'. They were also given as tokens of affection and friendship. This dainty little antique Edwardian ring would make a lovely pinkie ring and is perfect for everyday wearing! The ring has been created in a warm solid rose-with hints of pink-9k gold and shows a romantic endless lover's knot with openwork in the center and tied shoulders, the ring with a lovely light catching ribbed band-a very sweet ring! The ring has partial marks inside the band with maker 'J.M' for John Mantle (registered August 1899, Warstone Lane, Birmingham), '9 .375' and the Birmingham anchor. The ring tests for 9k gold. The ring is approximately a size 4 3/4. The ring measures approximately 10mm x 6mm across the knot. From shoulder to shoulder it measures about 17mm. The ring rises approximately 2mm above the finger and weighs approximately 2.2 grams. The ring is in excellent condition with all over light general wear. The ring has been resized.
