The original Big Texan restaurant was on Hwy. 66 but when Interstate 40 came the owners re-built off an Interstate exit (Lakeside Drive) and that's the era of this matchcover. But later research documented by Ron Warnick indicates that the new Big Texan is actually on the very early 1926-1928 alignment of Route 66! Check it out on the route66news website for July 18, 2016. Experts like Jerry McClanahan and Professor Nick Gerlich agree. There is no tape, glue or handwriting on the inside of this matchcover. This matchcover is in excellent unstruck condition.
