Description: RCAF - ROYAL CANADIAN AIR FORCE - is celebrating its 100 Anniversary in 2024. The Austrian Post Office using their Picture Postage program printed this stamp commemorating the 100. anniversary of the RCAF. Canada Post cancelled its Picture Postage stamp program on Sept. 1, 2022. Despite petitions from collectors and members of the RCAF it decided not to print a commemorative stamp for the 100. anniversary in 2024. Instead it reprinted a stamp issued in 2019 (Wm Baker) and added it to a commemorative cover. It missed the anniversary date of April 1, and created a "Day of Issue" cover on April 2nd. See newspaper scan. In addition to the stamp we created three commemorative covers. Each cover has, beside the Austrian Stamp, a Canadian Picture Postage. Both FDC's display our RCAF SNOW BIRDS. One cover shows the Snowbirds during a visit in Kelowna, BC. The other cover commemorates Kelowna's airport 75th anniversary with the Snowbirds doing a fly by. The third cover cancelled on April 1, the anniversary date has a Maple Leaf stamp. see our other listings.
