Artist&Painter: Born in Russian Empire Gromnickij/Hromnickij Pavel Antononvič (1889–1977) was prominent Russian and Ukrainian artist, painter dealing with landscape, portrait and still life. His beginning education in painting was in 1908 in Petersburg. He served as a soldier in Russian and then in Ukrainian armies before his emigration in Czechoslovakia. He graduated from Engelmiller’s private school in Prague in 1920 before attending the studio of professor I. Kulec at Ukrainian studio Fine Arts in Prague in 1924-1925. In the period of WWII he lived in provincial village near Prag and active collaborated with German occupants. In this time he painted a lot of canvases such as still lives and landscapes. After 1945 he served as Capitan of the Red Army where painted more than 1000 Stalins portraits. After 1946 he lived in Prag and painted urban landscape, views of Prague and its historical monuments and building. He opted unambiguously for realism without revealing any influences Matisse and France painter at all. He strove from the start to express reality without using opening bright colours. He painted quickly in bright realistic manner.
