Description: This small oval dish is vividly hand painted in mainly deep red, sage green, black, pink, and gold. The scene features four geisha girls near reeds/grass and flowers at the water's edge and one crossing a footbridge. Stilted buildings with pagoda-style roofs sit in the water. Mount Fuji rests peacefully in the background. The cherry trees are in blossom. The dots around the rim and the "cherries" are raised and textured to the touch. This dish measures about 7.75" x 4.5" across the top. The height varies between 1" and 1.5", tallest at the sides. Condition--I find two small chips in the glaze/paint. One is on the far left geisha's hair. One is on the roofline of a building. Both shown in photos. There are a few errant marks on the underside of the dish in colors that match the paint and seem to be underneath the glaze. I don't find any chips in the porcelain.
