Description: South Bend 18s 15 Jewel Pocket watch. The movement serial number is 710620 - model 2, grade 305, manufactured in 1911. The movement is still running and keeping good time 113 years after manufacture! The watch case is a nice Silveroid case made by the Dueber Watch Case Company. These old silveroid/nickel watches look really sharp when polished up - this case still has some bumps and bruises, but has the overall look and feel of a new watch sold in the late 1800s, early 1900s! This is a 3 piece case with screw-on front bezel and rear lid. Both screw on/off nicely. The crystal is a new glass crystal from White's Crystals. The case has a nice Silveroid bow and a nice brass crown. The Porcelain-enamel dial has large black numerals with red 5-minute markers. This dial presents well, there are several faint hairline cracks emanating from 11:00 and at 4:00. Please check photos for this. The thin spade-style steel hands are blue, the second hand is also blue. The mechanical movement is 15 jewels, the balance wheel has good motion, and the movement has been cleaned and is in running order. This movement received a new alloy mainspring as part of the service. This watch is a lever set movement. To set the time, unscrew the front bezel, use your fingernail to gently pull out the setting lever (at 5:00) and then use the crown to set the time. Push the setting lever back in, replace the front bezel, and then use the crown to wind the watch. Check the picture showing the lever pulled out. The watch has been recently serviced, is running and keeps time to within a few minutes each day. These old pocket watches make fun gifts for friends and family. USA Sales Only Please. Shipping will be USPS Priority Mail with tracking. I will happily combine shipping, and if you pay before my invoice, I will refund any excess. About me: I am a lifetime member of the NAWCC, I have enjoyed pocket watches as a hobby since the mid '70s. But now its time to sell off watches, tools and surplus material. I have sold 684 watches on eBay, so bid with confidence you will receive the watch as pictured and described. I ship clean, running watches, and you should expect to get a watch that will start up with a wind of the mainspring and a twist to get the balance started. Once in a while the watch may get a knock in shipment such that the movement will not start up. If that happens, please let me know and we will get it fixed.
