Description: In the process of selling off my extra "stuff" to try to raise funds to cover chemo for my SWEET horse! These are a super pair of Samshield Shield R Up safety stirrups. They have a nice, strong magnetic bit that holds the "arm" closed, but will open and release in the event of a fall. I love the design of these so much more than any other safety stirrups out there. I'm also SUPER picky when it comes to the weight of my irons (I like HEAVY) and these fit that bill, too. They also have a lovely WIDE footbed with lots of grip! Now, if you are familiar with these stirrup, you know how difficult they are to get your hands on. You may also know that the first generation (which these are) had a TERRIBLE issue with the paint chipping. I think you can easily see that in the photos. They pretty quickly pulled them off the market until they could fix that, and to my knowledge, I have not seen them rerelease the gold color (I have new brushed steel/aluminum ones...I THINK they also do a brushed rose gold). I had an early pair in the black chrome and they did the same darn thing (maybe not QUITE as bad). I promise I was not hard on them, didn't use them for more than a year or two. It was simply a manufacturing flaw. They may not look the best (but how much can you REALLY see or notice when on the back of a moving horse?), but they function perfectly. There is admittedly some sand/dirty stuck in the tread (I worked SO hard to get it all out, but simply couldn't - maybe someone has a better method than I do). These stirrups, as I mentioned, are super hard to come by (and this color MAY be discontinued), and they are crazy expensive! I've seen them retail upwards of $600 new. So, this is a pretty darn good deal!
