Description: This scarce 1890s "Mechanics Long Cut" paper label hinged tobacco tin, measuring4" x 5" x 6", is in good condition with no dents, some superficial interior rust and some minor age related paper staining, cuts and chips. The hinge is in excellent working order. There is a very large piece of tax stamp. This very attractive green label with black lettering advertising "Mechanics Long Cut" tobacco was made by the S. A. Isley & Company Lithographers, New York, NY. The tobacco was manufactured by William S. Kimball & Company, Rochester, NY at the Peerless Tobacco Works, Factory 1, 28th District, NY. William Kimball became Rochester's richest citizen who collected art, raised orchids and introduced golf to the city.
