Description: Founded in 1886, Provident Savings Bank of Baltimore was among the first to operate small, in-store branches, located within retail shops, groceries, pharmacies, etc. This highly-realized model of the Bank's location at Howard and Saratoga Streets was produced by the A. C. Rehberger Company of Chicago c. 1930. This souvenir bank is characteristic of the firm's high quality production. Cast in lead and copper-plated, this model retains its hinged, chrome-plated sheet metal trap, stamped with the Rehberger logotype, though without the original keyed lock. Interestingly, the bank features holes for the insertion of rolled currency both at its trap and roof; as well as a slot at the roof. Excellent condition. 3 1/4" high. See MM 1164.
