Description: Here is a beautiful Edwin and Mary Scheier studio pottery footed bowl with a matte yellow brown mottled and striated glaze on a flared form. Thrown by Mary and made of their 1950's beige clay. It measures 6 5/8 inches in diameter and 3 3/8 inches high. It is in great condition with the exception of two foot chips from where it stuck to the kiln shelf restored, and no cracks or other damage. Signed Scheier inside the foot. The Scheiers taught ceramics at the University of New Hampshire from the late 1930's through the late 1960's and were contemporaries of Gertrude and Otto Natzler, Beatrice Wood, and Maija Grotell. An excellent piece of mid-century modern ceramics.
