Description: The SEMI pendant light was designed in 1968 as a product of the creative partnership between two architecture students, Claus Bonderup and Torsten Thorup, and originally put into production by Fog & Mørup.Reacting against the 'cosy era' that was dominating Denmark at the time, Bonderup and Thorup wanted to create a lamp that incorporated sharp, clean lines and a geometric shape. Their design was submitted for a competition at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture and won first prize.SEMI is a unique pendant lamp, based on two quarter-circles put together, back-to-back. With its distinctive arch-shaped, lacquered metal shade, lightness of form and unique, timeless design, the elegant SEMI lamp achieved great success in the 1980's and became, at that time, the best-selling Danish design, gaining worldwide recognition and iconic status. This SEMI is a rare vintage 24-carat gold-plated version, measuring 18.5"/47 cm in diameter. It is in good vintage condition with few normal signs of usage and age. Please see the photos. I purchased it years ago from a dealer in Copenhagen and never had the chance to hang it. The pendant is all original, but rewired with 2 m (6' 7") high end quality, black fabric cord - for safety and beauty.Tested and fully functional. Cleaned, labeled and packed in protective plastic cover. Height: 9.3 inchDiameter: 18.5 inch
