Description: **Easel not included** This copper enameled bowl was created by Serge Nekrassoff sometime between 1946 and 1979. The background is enameled in an ombre effect, giving a very organic feeling of earth and sunshine.I love how the colors of the enamel harmonize with the underlying copper color to give depth to the finish. The bowl's ruffled edge elevates the simple design and adds highlights to the copper enamel work. Serge Nekrassoff was born in Russia in 1895 and served in the Imperial Guard. During the Russian Revolution, he was forced to flee Russia. As he traveled the world, he became skilled in metalworking. He came to the US in 1925 and made a name for himself, creating artistic pewterware. In 1946, due to the tin shortage after WW2, he began working primarily on copper enameling pieces. Many of his pieces featured birds, one reason why this piece is so rare. He retired in 1979. Diameter: 5 7/8" Height: 1" All measurements are approximate. No chips or dents. This bowl is in good condition, but it is vintage.There are vertical brown lines in the interior. I believe these are part of the design. Contrast these to the one scratch on the interior (last photo). There are some scratches consistent with age on the bottom (underside). See photos for condition details.
