Serviced Omega Speedmaster Calibre 1045 Ref. ST 176.0016 Chronograph Mark 4.5

Description: Up for sale is a rare 1970s stainless steel Omega Speedmaster 7-hand automatic chronograph ref. ST 176.0016, featuring a blue-grey sunburst dial, tritium hour markers and an English date wheel. This is sometimes referred to as a “Mark 4.5” Speedmaster but is actually a much rarer reference with a different dial colour and case shape, alongside its sister references, the 176.0014 with the “TV dial” and the 176.0015 with black dial and integrated bracelet. The watch is housed in a thick tonneau shaped flat walled 40mm brushed steel case with raised bezel, polished bevels, signed crown and screw down back with engraved Seahorse logo. The watch features separate hands for hours, minutes sweeping seconds, and 24 hours, plus chronograph registers tracking elapsed seconds, minutes (with iconic “jet-tipped” design) and hours. The watch is powered by Omega’s innovative calibre 1045 automatic movement with day and date. This is one of the most mechanically complex chronograph movements ever produced, and a beautiful testament to Swiss watchmaking ingenuity from the period immediately preceding the advent of quartz movements. The watch is in exceptional aesthetic and mechanical condition, having been fully serviced by the UK’s official Omega-licensed repair centre, Swiss Time Services, in 2022. Every feature is running correctly and the watch is still under warranty until 28 April 2024. The case has been cleaned in service, with factory brushing reapplied. The original sunburst dial has been carefully cleaned, with some patina and darkening present on the tritium hour markers. All hands, date wheels, crown and pushers have been replaced with period-correct OEM parts. The watch was produced for sale in Mexico and comes with its beautiful original period-correct Omega branded jubilee bracelet with flip-lock clasp, produced under licence in Mexico by Joske’s. The bracelet fits a 7” to 7.5” wrist and can be adjusted by three notches in either direction for a smaller or bigger wrist. The bracelet links have loosened with age so should be worn relatively flush to the wrist. The bracelet has been beautifully restored in service to its original factory brushing, with alternating brushed and polished jubilee links. Included with the watch are the red Omega travel case, service records, warranty card and all of the original parts replaced in service, including mineral crystal, hands, crown, pushers and the original Spanish-language Mexican date wheel.
