Description: Set of 8 Soviet Badges Commemorating the First Heroes of the Soviet Union, circa 1980s Guaranteed 100% ORIGINAL old piece, not a recent issue or a replica! These badges are in aluminum and paint. The first, smaller badge measures 28.2 mm by 17.0 mm. The other eight badges measure approximately 47 mm by 26 mm. The smaller badge has inscription “Country of Soviets Aviation USSR ANT-4 1925”. The second, vertically oriented badge has inscription “First Heroes of the Soviet Union”, and the recipients of that title’s names. The seven other badge each have the name of one of the recipients. A maker mark is inscribed on the reverse of each badge. The “Hero of the Soviet Union” title was given to those who had participated in heroic deed(s) for the USSR or socialist society. The first recipients (whose names are written beneath their respective commemorative badges) were Sigizmund Levanevsky, Anatoly Liapidevsky, Vasily Molokov, Nikolai Kamanin, Mavriky Slepnyov, Mikhail Vodopianov, and Ivan Doronin, who successfully completed an aerial search and rescued the crew of the Cheliuskin steamship, which sank in Arctic waters in 1934. These badges were issued in commemoration of the recipients of this title. These badges are in GREAT CONDITION! Other than a few minor contact marks, there is no visible wear of any kind.
