Here is a set of fossil fish plates from the world-famous fossil beds of Fossil Lake, Green River Formation, Wyoming. From the Eocene, 52 million years ago. This set contains a young Diplomystus fossil fish, a Knightia eocaena fossil fish fossil fish and a fossil fly. The Diplomystus measures approximately 3.1", the Knightia is about 3.4" in length. The plates are about 5.1" x 3.3" and 4.1" x 2.7". The fossil fly is species Plecia pealei or "March fly", a true member of the fly family. It measures about 1 cm in length and the plate is roughly 3" x 3". The combined weight for all plates is 1 lb. 13.80 oz.
