Description: VINTAGE MANGANESE GLASS PIECES! SET OF (3) FOSTORIA CENTURY CLEAR CHAMPAGNE / TALL SHERBET GLASSES VINTAGE c. 1950's NOT URANIUM ~ Please read below! These vintage manganese pieces are UV reactive and glow a vibrant green when under UV light. Produced by Fostoria in their Century (clear) pattern, which was made from 1950 until 1982 and is now discontinued. Each glass features a simple design with a wavy, embossed trim around the bottom of the bowl, which rests on a knobbed stem and leads to a clear, unmarked, circular base. Each glass is roughly 4 1/4" tall and has an opening diameter of about 3 3/4". These pieces are in exceptional condition, particularly when considering they are roughly 70 years old and delicate in nature! There are no cracks, chips or scratches on any of the glasses! The glow from these pieces is very bright and they would look amazing in any depression glass collection! Very clean and highly collectible, and a GREAT piece of early American glassware history!! **IMPORTANT** THIS IS NOT URANIUM GLASS!Manganese fluoresces at a wavelength of around 365nm, typically considered "UV-A light." UV and blacklight are NOT always the same! Blacklights typically operate in the 380-400nm range or higher, which is ideal for uranium glass but too high a wavelength for manganese. At around 395nm, visible light starts to seep in, starting with the violet, indigo and blue bands of the visible spectrum. The manganese items I sell will glow a deep royal blue, or possibly not at all, when displayed in cabinets where the range is in the 390's or higher.
