Description: For sale is a set of Antique wood and leather Tefillin (prayer boxes) with long leather straps containing Hebrew parchment scrolls accompanied by a satin lined hand embroidered blue velvet drawstring pouch for storage. The Tefillin are sealed and the boxes have never been taken apart, so all written parchment (Torah passages/Parshiot) remain inside. Both the arm-tefillah (or shel yad) and the head-tefillah (or shel rosh) are in lovely Vintage condition with the expected wear including signs of use on the straps and some wear to the boxes (batim) themselves only serving to enhance their value. In keeping with the preferred halachic standard, a piece of perfectly formed leather hide is hand sewn to the bottom of each of the tefillah. The Blue Velvet Tefillin Pouch, though also old may have been crafted more recently than the Tefillin themselves. Although we are not sure of their exact age, we were advised that these Tefillin are believed to be 80-100 years old. These beautiful, highly collectible Tefillin are both a sacred piece of history usable for daily prayer and a rare Judaic heirloom perfect for exhibit or passage from generation to generation. Please examine all photos carefully prior to purchase. The Tefillin will be professionally packed and shipped.
