Description: Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a set/8 lovely 19th Century (possibly earlier) 1" silver buttons that belonged to Prince Schwarzenberg of the Royal Family of Austria. Buttons are decorated with an embossed crown design on the front in high relief. Button is well marked on silver backing with Royal family insignia/emblem (?) as well as single three-leaf clover stamp with initials "B S W" inside for the "Bruder Schneider-A.G. Wein" Button Company. See last photo for details of marking on buttons. The Bruder Schneider-Wein company was based in Vienna and was approved as a button supplier to the Royal Family of Austria. Companies/craftsmen receiving this honor were "Exempted by the Court" which was granted for life to work directly for the Royal Court and consequently they enjoyed many benefits accordingly. These nice buttons are in very good Estate condition except for minor signs of normal wear and some very slight corrosion around the button attachment on the back. We found no silver mark on the button so are not sure of the silver content. We are selling this button "as described" as a collectible item and not as a silver investment. We have several more of these buttons in different sizes that are being sold separately and well as one "bag" of combined sizes. We also have two master salt cellars with the "S" monogram that came from the same Estate and also belonged to the family of Prince Schwarzenberg.
