This three story mansin looks entirely at odds with its surrounding. Some say the lighthouse is haunted. According to legend, during the 1930's the keeper's wife ran away with the captain of one of the Block Island ferries. The distraught keeper pushed open the lantern door and jumped to his death. Later keepers claimed they found the lantern door open when they were sure they had closed and bolted it.
