SHEP FIELDS - AUTOGRAPHED SIGNED PHOTOGRAPH - HFSID 27003 SHEP FIELDS Vintage black and white with brown hue publicity photograph of Shep Fields smoking a pipe. Photograph signed: "Shep Fields". B/w with brown hue, 8x10. Photograph by Bloom/Chicago. Typed caption affixed to verso: "SHEP FIELDS/A new picture of Shep Fields, who conducts his 'Rippling Rhythm' orchestra over WOR and the Mutual network several times weekly. Born in New York, Shep attended Erasmus High in Brooklyn and also spent some time at St. Johns' College there. Forced to earn money he terminated his studies to play saxophone in a club band. Finding the profession lucrative he organized his own unit and during the past year-and-a-half has been featured at the Cocoanut Grove in California, Palmer House in Chicago, the Plaza, Pierre's and the Waldorf Astoria (where he is currently playing) in New York." Shep Fields (1910-1981), who started his career as a saxophone player, led two of his own groups, Shep Fields and his Rippling Rhythm, which was heard on radio and played in some of the most popular nightclubs of the day, and Shep Fields & His Orchestra (1947-1951). Fields, who can be heard on a number of recordings, also appeared with his orchestra in The Big Broadcast of 1938 (1937) and he was Executive Producer of the 1977 film, Citizens Band. Slightly creased at corners. Minor surface creases (not evident head on). Pencil note (unknown hand) at upper right corner of typed caption, which is slightly creased and soiled. Overall, fine condition. See more material from these signers: SHEP FIELDS See more listings in our MUSIC & PERFORMERS (2,967) category. Please note that this is an authentically signed item.
