Description: This lot consists of two old receipts from the Boston banking firm of Brewster, Basset & Co. The receipts, dated 1878, are concerned with the transfer of stock in the Old Colony Railroad Company, which operated in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The receipts are signed at the bottom left corner by men who worked for the banking firm. The name of one of the men who signed was Charles E. Eddy, Jr. The name of the banker who signed the other receipt looks to be J. B. Palmer. The name of Christiana C. Vaughan (1843-1909) is on one receipt; the names of Charles W. Mayo and Ida O. Mayo are on the other. Both receipts have the name of an attorney on them, which looks to be F. P. Parker (or T. P. Parker). This name may be the signature of the attorney; the handwriting of this name is the same on each receipt. The receipts are 3.8" by 8.5", and are in good condition, with creases where they have been folded, and some general wear. Please see the scans for more details. The receipts are enclosed in clear plastic sleeves for protection. Shipping is FREE via USPS First Class Mail. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
