Harry Collingwood was the pseudonym of William Joseph Cosens Lancaster (1843-1922) was a British engineer and novelist who wrote over 40 adventure books. He was the son of a master mariner, and most of his books have a nautical theme. This book is dedicated to his nephew Alan Rice-Oxley who later became a British pilot during World War I.
