Description: John Otterson Painting Pop Art Modernist California Artist Jack Otterson. PROVENANCE OF SKETCH: My stepmother had an art teacher in California growing up named Mr. Otterson. She considered herself a "problem child" at the time in school. He was a good teacher/role model who always tried to help her with life problems. They had always kept in touch and he would mail her letters and pictures he drew. He brought the self portrait and gave it to her at my house in the early 1970's. She stated how amazing it is after all these years she was able to find it. This item is in the exact condition in which he gave it to her. Except the years have passed so it has aged. According to my stepmom, unfortunately he fell and broke his back and she would go visit him in they hospital in the Late 1970s. They ended up losing touch after that. Otterson was nominated for 8 academy awards & worked in 300 films. Born in Pennsylvania in 1905 died California in 1991. Sketch is signed. One of a kind!
