The Stern Portofolio Fotografie was an overly successful line extension of the German Stern magazine between 1996 and 2014. Each issue was limited to 10.000 copies and focussed on one world-famous photographer. This volume (No. 11 of 75) is numbered as "09189" (out of 10.000) and is all about Nan Goldin. Her extremely rare original signature in this large, almost oversized paperback book comes from Berlin, Germany, where I met her in-person in 2018 at the opening of a show she had in a gallery. The book shows signs of handling, storage and/or age. The cover/binding is torn in the upper left quarter (as can be seen in the photos). It comes from a pet-free/smoke-free environment. Just like this signature, I obtain all autographs face-to-face (“in person“). I started collecting signed items back in 1985 and only decided to give some of them away several years ago.
