Description: Very collectible MCM ice blue dinnerware frying pan with lid with handle on top - signed by artist Russel Wright on underside of frying pan. Also states: "Iroquois Casual China, USA, U-1." Looking up date code for U-1 states was made either in Jan. or 1st qtr. of 1961.Also printed - in black - "For cooking, frying, baking, do not heat or cool too fast. Never heat when empty. Use asbestos pad for best results." From research: "Russel Wright and Ben Seibel were among the main mid-century modernist designers of Iroquois. Wright introduced Casual around 1950." Iroquois China was founded in Solvay, NY in 1905 and "phased out production for residential use in the late 1960's." Russel Wright lived from 1904-1976. Iroquois Casual also referred to as American Modern and there were 11 colors.Ice Blue also referred to as Glacier Blue by his sometimes co-designer/wife Mary Einstein Wright.
